Lost Lovers, Found

On this 22nd anniversary of my dad's death, I have been thinking about him a great deal. When I was a kid and had just started playing guitar, he would regularly wake me when he got home from the 3PM-11PM shift at the Ford stamping plant to play guitar for him and his whiskey-drinking co-workers. It didn't matter if it was a school night or a Friday night, he would rouse me and ask me to entertain the troops. So, in his honor, here is the first public (and very poorly lit) YouTube video for my music channel.

(My apologies for the very poor lighting. It was dark to start, then YouTube squished it to near-black!)

Fave Song Friday

Shearwater - Dread Sovereign

And They Walked Away

An older song, just trying out the set-up. Not too thrilled with the overall sound quality and my voice is still a bit shot. More experiments to follow.

The Horrible Crowes - Behold the Hurricane

Thanks to a cadre of lurkers and stalkers from such far-flung spots like Corvallis, Oregon to Saint Paul, Minnesota, I've decided to kill my personal blog at verydistractedjames.com and focus my energy on my music and this space. In addition to my own videos and mp3's, one of the regular features I have planned is a Fave Song Friday. This first entry is a song I came upon just a few days ago. The band is The Horrible Crowes; a side project from Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem and his friend (and The Gaslight Anthem guitar tech) Ian Perkins. Their debut release, Elsie is very solid. I am torn between this track and Ladykiller as my favorites. Check them out.
